very useful
This remote is very useful for control of the media functions of the PlayStation 3. I use it every time I watch a DVD, BD, or downloaded movie. It has plenty of buttons, very well organized. It syncs easily to the system, and runs off two AA batteries. I give it 4 starts out of 5 because there’s only two minor complaints: the buttons don’t light up, and it doesn’t charge via usb like the controllers do. As I said, those are minor complaints and they don’t bother me too much. Overall, I highly recommend this product to anybody who is using their PS3 as a media player.

Must have, if you own a PS3
If you’re gonna watch movies in your PS3 you have to get the remote. There are other brands but it is worth to spend a couple of bucks more in the Sony.

Works like it should.
This remote works very good and links up with your system as controller port 7. It’s definitely not a must have but it is nice to have if you like to watch a lot of movies and videos on your PS3. It would be nice if it had an auxillary IR transmitter so you could use it with your other home electronics but it doesn’t. I mainly took a star off because of the stupid thing where some engineer at Sony thought it would be great for any button on the remote to turn on your system, but it isn’t great. So if you accidently press any button, your system is going to turn on. I really don’t get why they couldn’t get the PS button to be the only on switch. As stated in other reviews it would also be nice if it had an off switch. Kind of like a Wiimote or any other remote you have lying around.
